Well although it's a couple months off I have decided to celebrate being on my own for a year. As many of you know my husband and his partner own a sandwich shop (Fort Union Blvd and 900 East--Jimmy John's...a little plug for them) and we recently had a party for the employees to celebrate being open for a year. Since I work this business completely SOLO, it's hard to have a bowling party for one to celebrate. So I thought that I would start doing a post every couple days of one of my favorite photographs from a year ago. And then I'll tell you why I like them and why I defend them as a favorite using all sorts of BYU photography technical jargon...well not LOTS of it. Surprisingly every once in a while I actually miss going to class and getting my hard work and artistic ability critiqued to death. It only made me better, right? FYI...I've been on my own since July 1st 2007! Whoop, whoop! Hallelujah I don't work for the man anymore! Ha ha, many of you know who the man was.
Anyway so it's you know like 5 months late in coming, but summer and fall are so busy that I'm just now getting to it. Here is one of my all time faves from last November.
My favorite part of this photograph is the way her eyes pop. It wasn't too hard seeing as how this whole picture is high key with the exception of her jeans. Another great aspect is her pose, it was completely unscripted and natural. She was just "being" in front of the camera...that's why I love kids so much...they are just themselves no matter who's there. Just lovely.
