Last night I was helping my cousin order her bridal pictures and we were discussing hair for her wedding day. So I used all of the beautiful brides I've taken pictures of as a portfolio of hair to help her decide what style she will do for her big day. We came across Heidi's pictures. I forgot how much I love, love, love these pictures. I took them summer of 2007 for the studio I used to work for. Heidi gave me her permission to use them on my site. Looking at these pictures reminded me of a lot of things.
Number one I used to ride my bike to work and then to the Riverwoods 5 days a week. In the summer. Around 1:30pm. I was crazy. And I looked crazy because I wore Danny's snowboarding helmet with big sunglasses. Danny used to laugh at me everytime he saw me in it. One time I wore it backwards. Woops. It was 6.5 miles to the studio and another 2 to the Riverwoods. Then I did it all back to get home. 17 miles a day in the summer! And I loved every second of it.
Number two I had my first real assistant. Jamie. She was another photographer at the studio and was soon to be taking over outdoor pictures because I was headin' out baby. Which meant I got to use a reflector. Yesssss. We rode our bikes together to the Riverwoods and laughed the whole way. You woulda thought we were kids. We kind of were/are.
Number three I used to LIVE at the Riverwoods on Tuesday's, Thursday's, and Saturday's. And I ate lunch at Hogi Yogi and sometimes Subway. Now that we own some Jimmy John's I will never eat there again...unless there is no other option...or Danny might get a little upset...hehehe. I bought my converse shoes that I still wear ALL THE TIME at the sports store that was there and went outta business. I got them for 15 bucks. Saa-weet.
Number four this was the first bride that was super natural (two words, not one) in front of the camera. Yesssss. This meant I got to do every little pose I wrote down on my scrap paper (I put one of my scraps in this post just for you to see). Luckily I have had so many brides since then that are just the same (you girls are hottt!).
Number five nothing beats the satisfaction of a job done how you wanted it done when you did it. I don't know if that made sense, but I generally go back and look at pictures and think...well I coulda, shoulda, woulda. My grandpa (PA!), the arteeest, taught me from a young age that artists are rarely satisfied with their work and he would keep going back to his paintings over and over. He also taught me to never touch his brushes. I probably would have built something with them or tried to make a trap for the wild hogs at night with them (Payson, Arizona)......and he knew it. I digress. With these pictures? Well, I just like them how they are, I guess. Which doesn't happen all the time. So I like them and I like to look at them.
